New scientific research has shown, by that thickening parts of the brain cortex, mindfulness and meditation offer spiritual cures for depression. Researchers studies 130 people and discovered that the people who were highly spiritual had thicker portions of brain cortices that can guard against depression.

These individuals were asked to value the importance of spirituality in their lives. MRIs were taken of the participants and showed that those who highly valued spirituality had thicker cortices.

Begin by expressing love and compassion for yourself, then express love and compassion for family, friends, colleagues and finally people you do not get along with. If your negative feelings involve another person, be sure to express love and forgiveness to them and imagine them expressing the same back to you.
